Join the Center for Reconciliation (CFR) for another in the ”Art of Race” Series. The CFR and the RISD Museum’s Decorative Arts Department will welcome you to a special opportunity to explore and discuss works of art from the Pendleton House gallery and archive. Come investigate 18th and 19th century ethnic fantasies and the international collecting practices of a local heiress. We will also challenge ourselves to consider the politics of painting “the other.” The dialogue will be facilitated by the CFR’s program director and curator Elon Cook Lee and the RISD Museum Decorative Arts Department’s curatorial assistant, Emily Banas. Registration is required and spaces are limited. This series frequently sells out, so register soon.
